Special Weather Statement

Issued at 21:31 Sunday 17 December 2017

Summary

A Change in the Weather is Expected. 10-25 Centimetres of Snow By Wednesday Evening. A cold front will move southward through Southern Alberta overnight bringing some light snow and cooler temperatures. This cold front will bring an end to the unseasonably warm temperatures Southern Alberta has been experiencing over the past many weeks. On Tuesday December 19th, a Pacific low pressure system will move into Montana bringing snow to many parts of Southern Alberta. There is still a fair bit of uncertainty as to the exact path and speed of this low. At this moment, meteorologists are expecting anywhere from 10-25 centimetres of snow to fall from Tuesday morning until Wednesday evening. Locations that will see the most snow include the Pincher Creek and Cardston regions where 25-30 centimetres of snow is possible. A band stretching from Calgary to Lethbridge could see 10-15 centimetres of snow by Wednesday evening. Regions further to the east will see less. ### Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
