Special Weather Statement

Issued at 22:17 Saturday 24 February 2018

Summary

A period of rain overnight. An area of rain is beginning to move into Southwestern Ontario and will affect regions just north of Lake Erie overnight. An isolated thunderstorm is possible as well with brief heavy downpours. The majority of the heavier rainfall will remain south of Lake Erie, limiting rainfall amounts to 10 to at most 20 millimetres north of Erie. The activity should quickly end around dawn as the weather system responsible moves to the northeast. Although rainfall amounts are not overly significant, recent rains and snowmelt have resulted in saturated conditions in some areas. Thus, even modest rainfall may have impacts in a few places. In addition, for areas close to the eastern shores of Lake Erie, southwest winds gusting to 80 km/h will develop Sunday morning and persist for much of the day before diminishing in the evening. ### Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
