Issued at 21:46 Monday 12 November 2018

Summary

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring. Strong southerly winds gusting to 100 km/h are expected Tuesday afternoon and evening. A low pressure system will intensify as it tracks toward the region on Tuesday. This system will give snow and rain but significant accumulations are not expected. Strong southerly winds gusting from 80 to 100 km/h will develop in the afternoon in the west and spread eastward Tuesday evening. As the system tracks into the Gulf of St. Lawrence Tuesday night, winds will shift to the west and usher in cold air and flurries. These westerly winds may also approach warning criteria strength and persist through to Wednesday night. ### High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to NSstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #NSStorm.
