A low pressure system south of Cape Cod will approach the Maritimes today. The low will track northeastward near the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia tonight to lie over Newfoundland on Thursday. Snow is expected to change over to rain for parts of the province tonight with a risk of freezing rain during the changeover. Generally 10 to 15 centimetres are now expected across much of Nova Scotia with 15 to 20 centimetres expected over northern portions where a snowfall warning is in effect.
