Special Weather Statement

Issued at 04:49 Tuesday 20 February 2018

Summary

Significant rainfall into Wednesday. Several rounds of rain will continue today and tonight. Rainfall amounts of 5 to 10 mm are possible today and again Wednesday. This is below Environment Canada's criterion for rainfall warning of 25 mm in 24 hours when the ground is frozen. However, this rainfall along with snowmelt due to very mild temperatures may result in ponding of water in poorly drained areas. This wet, record mild spell is attributed to a series of low pressure systems moving along a warm front draped across the lower Great Lakes. A final band of rain is likely along a cold front Wednesday, bringing the rain to an end. However, multi-day rainfall totals in the 20 to 30 mm range are likely in some areas. ### Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.cpio-tempetes-ospc-storms.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
